Often called dual wall, it is made up of two layers - an outer layer of cross-linked polyolefin and an inner lining of flexible adhesive. Unlike the no-adhesive type, dual wall heat shrink tubing can be successfully used in installations exposed to adverse external weather conditions, or those running underground. During heating, the outer layer shrinks, while the inner adhesive coating melts and spreads, filling all gaps and adhering precisely to the wire. The adhesive then forms an effective seal against moisture as the tubing cools, providing a reliable insulation and protection.

When making a purchase, keep in mind the different sizes of tubing may not fit every cable. Be sure to check the diameter and length of the product in the technical specifications. Remember to start the shrinking process at the center of the tubing, to avoid the formation of air bubbles under the surface. The tubing available in our store shrinks at different temperatures. If you need to protect an installation operating in more extreme conditions, choose a model with a higher temperature resistance. Those are generally thicker, and therefore more resistant to abrasion and other mechanical damage.
